Plans, directs, and supervises the laboratory and staff to ensure that patients' laboratory needs are effectively met. Establishes, implements, and monitors policies, procedures, standards, and objectives for the provision of services. Establishes, implements, and monitors staffing adequacies and development programs to adjust as needed. Guarantee accuracy and promptness of patient testing and efficient laboratory operations. Establishes, implements, and monitors annual budget for department. Acts as Point of Care Coordinator to ensure high quality, accurate, and cost-effective bedside laboratory testing. Acts as advisor and liaison for any other laboratory testing done within the system. Attends and participates in management and committee meetings. Sets and monitors Standards of Excellence for customer service for the department. Ensures all services and programs are in accordance with standards established by the, hospital, state, federal, and local regulatory agencies.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Healthcare Administration, or clinical related science. Certification required
Minimum Experience, Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements:
Medical laboratory services experience. Management or supervisory experience preferred. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with patients, staff, subordinates, managers, and executives. Professional demeanor and ability to multi-task. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent leadership skills.
